Biografia
Kostadin V. Petrov is a Lead Researcher at HyLab, where he coordinates the Hydrogen Production unit. His research focuses on the development, scale-up, and optimization of low-temperature water electrolyzers and their components, combining experimental and numerical approaches.
He holds an MSc in Chemical and Biochemical Engineering from NOVA University of Lisbon (2018) and a PhD from Delft University of Technology (2024). During his PhD, he worked on CO₂ electrolysis and the development of novel ion-exchange membranes, including nanoporous inorganic membranes and polymeric membranes with internal microchannels. He also served as a teaching assistant for an MSc course in electrochemistry fundamentals.
After his PhD, he joined HyLab as a researcher working on water electrolysis for hydrogen production. Since August 2025, he has coordinated HyLab’s hydrogen production pillar, leading a team of three researchers and supervising three PhD students at partner universities. Kostadin has authored seven scientific journal articles, five as first author, and holds one registered patent.
