Biografia
I am a Telecommunications and Informatics Engineering graduate from Instituto Superior Técnico. During my bachelor's degree, I developed strong foundations in computer science and software engineering. Later in my Master's program, I deepened my expertise in computer networks, artificial intelligence, and machine learning.
My thesis research applies deep learning to maritime vessel data for fishing activity classification. I've developed and implemented two neural network architectures (LSTM-FCN and 1D-CNN) that analyze vessel movement patterns from AIS/VMS tracking data to identify fishing activities and classify fishing gear types. These models achieved high accuracy values on real-world fishing vessel data provided by the Portuguese Navy, demonstrating practical applications for fisheries management and marine conservation.
I am currently working at Grupo Visabeira's I&D division as a Data Scientist, where I contribute to AI-driven projects.
